Most people who end up running development projects didn't start with a degree in it. They started in the room. Taking the minutes. Filing the drawings. Learning how a project gets built by watching the people who build it.
This is a seat in that room.
You'll join a developer and operator in retirement living and aged care. The leadership team is small and hands-on. The people who make decisions sit across the table from you, not three layers up. They've delivered and run several villages over the years and have more sites in the pipeline.
Their current project is a large retirement village in Southwest Sydney, worth more than $150m. The DA is approved and design is nearly finished. Construction starts in the coming months and runs over several years.
You'll work directly with the head of development and the CEO. You'll sit in design meetings, construction meetings and PCG. You'll take minutes, run the registers and keep the documentation tight. You'll track consultant costs and budgets. You'll check sales contracts against apartment numbers and inclusions. You'll build schedules like joinery types for every apartment. You'll also go to project events and functions with the team.
To be clear, the role is admin-heavy at the start. An external PM runs the project. You won't be leading anything yet. If you're an engineer or construction manager chasing a DM title next month, this isn't it.
If you want to learn to read plans, understand a feaso and follow a major project from design to handover, there's a real path here. The person you'll support came up the same way.
