Are you an experienced mechanical engineer, looking to develop your career in the world of contracting, but feel you've reached your ceiling?

Perhaps you've been working as a senior for several years, in a consulting or D&C environment, but struggling to see a path forward into leadership?

Maybe you've been in a lead role already, but not getting the recognition you deserve.

Love getting super technical?

Value trust, loyalty, and tradition?

Then maybe you should read on!

Our client is the leading bespoke electrical and mechanical contractor in NSW. They are family-owned and put their people first. Safety in every project is paramount. As is technical innovation and doing the right thing. It's these values and principles that have kept clients coming back to them for over 15 years.

They specialise in mechanical and electrical design and construction contractors but are supported by a specialist 24/7 maintenance arm. They are also branching into design consulting. They are always looking for opportunities to offer more.

Project-wise, they focus on projects in the $ 10-50 million range (sometimes higher) and can offer you exposure to projects that include hospitals, automated warehouses, commercial buildings, specialist laboratories and data centres/mission-critical facilities.

The mechanical team is currently 12 strong, headed up by a highly technical group leader.

The group leader is now looking for a 2ic, a second in command, to take a lead role within the team and support him in growing the team. The ideal candidate will be a technical sounding board (you'll have to know your stuff!) for the team and clients, you'll take a high-level lead role on major projects whilst getting the opportunity to learn the commercial aspects of leadership as they continue to expand.

Whilst they don't offer much work from home due to the nature of the work, they are grown-ups. If you need to be flexible with your start or finish times or have things crop up and need to balance/work life a bit more, you do you if the projects are kept on track. If you're struggling, they will support you like family!

They are in the Southwest region of Sydney, so if the location doesn't work for you then it's probably not right.

For this role, you'll need to be experienced technically, and be able to mentor others, thrive in technical conversations and hold your own on projects and at client meetings. Your background will need to be in building services mechanical HVAC Engineering, and ideally you will have CPEng and/OR NER status.

If you're thinking of a change and are wondering whether this may or not be a good fit, reach out for a chat!
