Working for a big consultancy firm can be great – we get it. You get to work on major projects out of a flashy office, and the company can look great on your CV.
But sometimes, it can be hard to pick up responsibility quickly. You can regularly be kept back of the house, whilst your seniors and associates liaise with the clients. Your manager is likely managing a team of 10+ engineers, and they don’t have time to give you hands-on, one on one training. It can be hard to stand out in a crowd!
Our client can offer something different.
They only focus on hydraulic and fire engineering. It is their lifeblood, their passion, and their great at it. They’ve been doing it for over 40 years, after all.
They literally set the standard in the industry. So much so, that they are often engaged to peer review the work of the bigger guys.
Whilst they are small (around 25), they compete on the big end of town (think Sydney Fish Markets big). They also cover healthcare, education, residential, commercial, correction and government projects.
They work hard, but they have fun whilst they are doing it. They prefer their staff to be in the office 5 days a week, as they feel having you around will benefit the younger engineers, but they try to make their environment as fun as possible…. So, work doesn’t always feel like work.
They are now looking to hire a senior fire protection engineer that can hold their own on small, medium and large-scale projects. You won’t be micro-managed and will be given the freedom to manage projects in a way that you see fit. They want you to focus on good, innovative engineering, and building good relationships with clients.
